// 01. EXECUTIVE BRIEF

Project Overview

Bookly is a Google Books-powered ebook browser and reader built entirely in Flutter following strict Clean Architecture principles. The codebase is split into Data, Domain, and Presentation layers, making every module independently testable and replaceable.

Users can search millions of books through the Google Books API, browse by category, preview books, and save favorites for offline access using Hive local database. The in-app reader provides a beautiful, distraction-free reading experience with customizable font sizes and themes.

Challenge & Resolution

[PROBLEM STATEMENT]

The Engineering Challenge

Ensuring smooth infinite scrolling pagination through millions of book records from the Google Books API while keeping memory usage low on mid-range Android devices.

[SYSTEM RESOLUTION]

The Architectural Approach

Implemented lazy pagination with a windowing strategy — only keeping 3 pages of book data in memory at a time, discarding off-screen pages and refetching on scroll-back. Used Hive for aggressive caching of recently viewed items.
