// 01. EXECUTIVE BRIEF

Project Overview

This is a complete end-to-end ecommerce platform built from scratch. The frontend uses React with Redux Toolkit for predictable state management across the cart, auth, and product modules. The backend is a Node.js + Express REST API backed by MongoDB Atlas.

Shopping features include product search, category filtering, review system, wishlist, and a multi-step checkout with Stripe payments. Sellers can manage their inventory through an admin portal, while customers receive real-time order status updates via email and in-app notifications.

Challenge & Resolution

[PROBLEM STATEMENT]

The Engineering Challenge

Building a consistent, secure checkout flow that handles payment failures, stock conflicts between concurrent users, and refund edge cases gracefully without data corruption.

[SYSTEM RESOLUTION]

The Architectural Approach

Implemented database-level atomic transactions for inventory deduction, idempotent Stripe webhook handlers to prevent double-processing, and a compensating transaction pattern for rollback on failed orders.
